n-Propyl acetate is a colorless, transparent liquid with a mild, fruity odor. It is miscible with ethanol, diethyl ether, acetone, and most organic solvents. It may decompose under conditions of strong acids, strong bases, or high temperatures, releasing acetic acid vapor. While generally non-reactive with metals, prolonged contact can cause swelling in certain plastics and rubbers.
