Methylal is primarily used as a solvent in the production of polyurethane, resins, adhesives, and coatings. Also functions as a reaction intermediate in pharmaceutical and agrochemical synthesis. Serves as an extraction solvent and a component in cleaning formulations, aerosol propellants, and fuel additives.
