Ethyl propionate is a colorless, transparent liquid with a strong aroma of rum and sweet fruit (pineapple/strawberry notes). It is miscible with ethanol, diethyl ether, acetone, ethyl acetate, and hydrocarbons, and dissolves nitrocellulose as well as certain acrylic and vinyl resins. It is stable to light but should be protected from strong acids, strong bases, and heat.
