Appearance and Odor: Ethyl benzoate is a colorless, transparent liquid with a faint floral and fruity aroma, similar to ylang-ylang essential oil.
Boiling Point and Flash Point: Boiling point at atmospheric pressure is 211–214°C; closed-cup flash point is approximately 88–95.5°C (classified as a combustible liquid).
Density and Solubility: Relative density is approximately 1.05 g/cm³ (heavier than water); slightly soluble in water, readily soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and diethyl ether.

Primary Uses

Fragrance and flavor industry: Widely used as a fixative in perfumes and in the formulation of food flavorings (such as strawberry and cherry) as well as flavorings for tobacco and alcoholic beverages.
Industrial solvent: Serves as an excellent high-boiling-point solvent for cellulose esters, resins, coatings, and inks.
