Q: Why is moisture and acidity so critical for BDO quality?

A: For polyurethane and polyester synthesis, water reacts with isocyanates to form urea and releases CO₂, causing foaming and weak bonds. Acidity acts as a catalyst for ester hydrolysis and can also neutralize amine catalysts. Even trace amounts (50 ppm moisture or 0.005% acidity) significantly affect final product performance. Our 99.5% purity grade guarantees these levels below specification, saving you from failed batches.

Q: What's the difference between BDO, GBL, and THF?

A: BDO is the base raw material. GBL (gamma-butyrolactone) is produced by dehydrogenation of BDO and is used as a solvent and intermediate for NMP/2-P. THF (tetrahydrofuran) is produced by cyclodehydration of BDO and is used as a solvent for PVC and precursor to PTMEG. Each downstream product has distinct solvent properties and applications.
